VA Imaging MER2-507-23GM-P-VA 1/2.5" Monochrome CMOS (OnSemi AR0521) Camera, 5 Megapixels, 2592 x 1944, 23 fps, Rolling Shutter, C-Mount, GigE Vision Output
GigE Vision Camera OnSemi AR0521
The Mercury GigE camera lineup represents a series of industrial-grade vision cameras featuring a GigE interface. GigE remains the predominant interface standard for cameras in conventional machine vision scenarios. This camera is offered in versions both with and without Power over Ethernet (PoE).
This particular model suits applications that meet these criteria:
- Industrial-grade camera requirements
- Cable runs up to 100 meters
- Cost-effective and straightforward cable deployment
- Single cable connection when using PoE
- Physical dimensions: 29x29x29mm (non-PoE), 29x29x38mm (PoE-enabled)
- Optional support for hardware triggering

MTBF, warranty & product life cycle
Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually, adhering to stringent quality protocols. The mean time between failure (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours, equating to approximately 45 years of continuous operation. These industrial cameras carry TÜV Rheinland certification and include a three-year warranty. Post-launch, each camera model remains available for a minimum of seven years, with many models supported for even longer periods. Monochrome Camera
A monochrome camera, also referred to as a black and white camera, provides benefits across numerous applications. While color cameras dominate sectors like security and telecommunications, industrial environments leverage the strengths of monochrome imaging. These cameras offer heightened light sensitivity, deliver crisp image quality, and reduce data volume compared to color counterparts, facilitating more efficient image processing. By selecting appropriate lighting and lens filters, a monochrome camera can optimize performance based on the product s characteristics. The MER2-507-23GM-P, featuring the AR0521 sensor, delivers high-resolution images with strong contrast and excellent detail.
PoE
Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology for GigE cameras enables simultaneous transmission of power and data through a single standard Ethernet cable. This approach simplifies wiring and decreases installation time in setups where hardware triggering or I/O connections are unnecessary. When I/O functionality is required, it is recommended to power the camera via the I/O connector. PoE typically consumes more power than supplying voltage through the I/O port, resulting in increased heat generation due to voltage conversion within the camera. Consequently, PoE-enabled GigE cameras are physically larger than their non-PoE counterparts because of the additional circuitry needed to extract and step down power from the Ethernet line. This extra hardware also contributes to a higher cost for PoE models compared to standard versions.
