MTBF, warranty & product life cycle

Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually adhering to stringent quality standards. The Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours (equivalent to 45 years of continuous operation). These industrial cameras carry TÜV Rheinland certification and include a 3-year warranty. Each camera model remains available for a minimum of 7 years following its market release, with many models supported for significantly longer periods. Additional insights on our product life cycle management can be found in this article.

Monochrome Camera

Monochrome cameras, often referred to as black and white cameras, provide benefits across numerous applications. While color cameras dominate sectors such as security and telecommunications, industrial fields leverage the strengths of monochrome imaging. These cameras exhibit high sensitivity to light, deliver crisp images, and generate less data compared to color cameras, facilitating more efficient image processing. By choosing appropriate lighting wavelengths and lens filters, specific product features can be emphasized, allowing the capture of high-contrast, high-resolution images using monochrome cameras.

NIR

NIR cameras utilize monochrome sensors optimized for the Near Infrared spectrum, covering wavelengths between 800 and 1000 nm. Standard IR LEDs typically emit at 850 nm or 930 nm. The photon-sensitive regions within the pixels of NIR cameras are situated deeper than those in conventional monochrome sensors, enhancing their ability to detect photons at these longer wavelengths (800-1000 nm). NIR sensors generally carry a higher cost than standard monochrome cameras. These cameras are well-suited for applications requiring low-light performance, such as intelligent transport systems (ITS) and medical imaging.

PoE

Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology for GigE cameras enables the transmission of both electrical power and data through a single standard Ethernet cable. This simplifies cabling and reduces installation time, particularly in scenarios where hardware triggering or additional I/O is not necessary. For applications involving I/O, it is recommended to power the camera through the I/O connector instead. PoE consumes more power than supplying voltage via the I/O connector, resulting in increased heat generation within the camera due to voltage conversion from PoE levels to operational voltages. Consequently, PoE-enabled GigE cameras are physically larger than their non-PoE counterparts because of the extra circuitry required to extract and convert power from the Ethernet connection. This additional hardware also contributes to a higher cost for PoE models compared to standard versions.
