GigE Vision Camera IMX249

The Mercury 2 GigE camera lineup is designed as an industrial vision solution featuring a GigE interface. GigE remains the predominant connection type for cameras in standard machine vision environments. The Mercury 2 series incorporates advanced functions such as decimation, binning, pixel skipping, image reversal, and digital shifting. This particular model suits applications that meet these criteria:
- An industrial-grade camera
- Cable runs up to 100 meters
- Cost-effective and straightforward cable setup
- Physical dimensions of 29x29x40.3mm
- Optional support for hardware triggering

For additional technical information, please refer to the industrial GigE Vision camera manual.

MTBF, warranty & product life cycle

Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually, adhering to stringent quality controls. The mean time between failures (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours (equivalent to 45 years of continuous operation). These industrial cameras carry TÜV Rheinland certification and include a three-year warranty. Following product launch, each camera model is supported for a minimum of seven years, with many models enjoying significantly longer lifespans. Monochrome industrial camera

A monochrome camera, sometimes called a black and white camera, provides benefits across multiple use cases. While color cameras dominate the security sector, industrial applications often prefer monochrome cameras due to their enhanced light sensitivity, sharper image output, and reduced data volume compared to color imaging. This makes them particularly well-suited for image processing tasks. By choosing appropriate lighting colors and lens filters, a monochrome camera can fully leverage its capabilities. The result is high-contrast, high-resolution images ideal for industrial inspection.

Industrial camera with PoE

Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology for GigE cameras enables simultaneous power supply and data transmission through a single Ethernet cable. This simplifies wiring and shortens installation time in setups where hardware triggering or I/O functions are not necessary. For applications requiring I/O, powering the camera via an I/O connector is recommended. Cameras powered by PoE consume more energy and generate additional heat compared to I/O-powered units. PoE-enabled GigE cameras are physically larger due to an extra PCB that isolates power from the Ethernet signal and steps down the voltage. This additional hardware increases cost relative to non-PoE versions. However, PoE offers the advantage of easier installation by reducing the number of cables needed.
