GigE Vision Camera IMX249

The Mercury 2 GigE camera lineup features industrial-grade vision cameras equipped with a GigE interface. GigE remains the predominant interface standard for cameras in conventional machine vision setups. The Mercury 2 series offers enhanced capabilities such as decimation, binning, pixel skipping, image reversal, and digital shifting. This particular model suits your needs if your application meets the following criteria:
- An industrial-grade camera
- Cable length up to 100 meters
- Cost-effective and straightforward cable installation
- Physical dimensions: 29x29x40.3mm
- Optional support for hardware triggering

For further information, please refer to the GigE vision camera manual.

MTBF, warranty & product life cycle

Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually, adhering to rigorous quality standards. The mean time between failure (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours (equivalent to 45 years of continuous operation). These industrial cameras carry TÜV Rheinland certification and come with a 3-year warranty. Each camera model remains available for a minimum of 7 years following its market release, with many models supported for significantly longer periods. Color industrial camera

A color industrial camera utilizes a Bayer filter pattern to generate color images. The RGB values for each pixel are computed by combining the pixel s own data with that of adjacent pixels. This process results in images that are generally less sharp compared to those from monochrome cameras.
Because of the RGB filtering on individual pixels, each pixel captures approximately 66% fewer photons under white light conditions than a monochrome sensor, leading to reduced light sensitivity. To address this limitation, the following adjustments can be made: - Enhance illumination levels
- Increase the camera s gain
- Extend shutter speed or exposure time
- Choose a sensor with higher light sensitivity
- Opt for a lens with greater light-gathering capability
Color industrial cameras are preferred in scenarios where capturing color information is essential.

Industrial GigE camera with PoE

Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology for GigE cameras enables simultaneous delivery of power and data through a single Ethernet cable. This simplifies wiring and reduces installation time in applications that do not require hardware triggering or I/O connections. When I/O functionality is necessary, it is recommended to power the camera via an I/O connector. Cameras powered by PoE consume more power and generate additional heat compared to those powered through the I/O connector. PoE-enabled GigE cameras are physically larger due to an extra PCB that isolates the Ethernet power from the data signal and converts voltage to a lower level. This additional hardware increases the cost compared to non-PoE versions. The primary benefit of PoE is streamlined installation with fewer cables needed.
