VA Imaging MER3-2000-15G3C-P-VA 1" Color CMOS (Sony IMX183) Camera, 20 Megapixels, 5496 x 3672, 15 fps, Rolling Shutter, C-Mount, 2.5GigE Output
2.5GIGE VISION CAMERA IMX183
The MER3-2000-15G3C-P belongs to the MER3 2.5GigE lineup. This model is an industrial-grade GigE vision camera featuring a 2.5GigE connection. GigE remains the predominant interface for cameras in conventional machine vision setups. The MER3 series offers high-resolution options for both global and rolling shutter sensors. This particular camera suits applications that meet the following criteria:
- An industrial-grade camera
- Cable length up to 100 meters
- Cost-effective and straightforward cable installation
- Single cable connection to the device
- Compact dimensions: 29x29x50.6mm
For further technical information, please refer to the MER3 2.5GigE manual.
COLOR INDUSTRIAL CAMERA
A color industrial camera employs a Bayer filter array to generate color images. The RGB values for each pixel are derived by combining the pixel s own data with that of adjacent pixels. This process results in images that are generally less sharp compared to those captured by monochrome cameras. Because of the RGB filter, each pixel typically captures about 66% fewer photons under white light conditions than a monochrome sensor, making color cameras less sensitive to light. To address this, several adjustments can be made:
- Enhance illumination intensity
- Increase sensor gain
- Extend shutter speed or exposure duration
- Choose a sensor with higher light sensitivity
- Use a lens optimized for greater light sensitivity
Color industrial cameras are preferred in scenarios where capturing color information is essential.
POE INDUSTRIAL CAMERA
Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology for GigE cameras enables both power delivery and data transfer through a single Ethernet cable. This simplifies cabling and reduces installation time in systems that do not require hardware triggers or I/O connections. For applications needing I/O, powering the camera through an I/O connector is recommended. Cameras powered via PoE consume more energy and produce additional heat compared to those powered through I/O connectors. PoE-enabled GigE cameras are physically larger than their non-PoE counterparts due to an extra PCB that isolates power from the Ethernet signal and steps down voltage. This additional hardware increases cost. The main benefit of PoE is simplified installation with fewer cables needed.
MTBF, WARRANTY & PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE
Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually, adhering to stringent quality standards. The mean time between failure (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours (equivalent to 45 years of continuous operation). These industrial cameras hold TÜV Rheinland certification and come with a three-year warranty. Following release, each camera model is supported for a minimum of seven years, with many models maintaining even longer product life cycles. More details on our product life cycle management can be found in this article.
