Industrial USB 3.0 Vision camera IMX183

The Mercury2 USB3.0 camera is designed as an industrial vision device featuring a USB 3.0 interface. USB 3.0 provides an ideal connection for cameras requiring high resolution and rapid data transfer. This interface works well with embedded systems such as Raspberry Pi (version 4 or newer), NVIDIA platforms, and conventional PCs.
This industrial camera model is suitable if your application meets these criteria:
- Industrial-grade camera
- Cable length up to 4.5 meters (extendable to 10 meters with optical USB3 cable)
- Single cable connection required
- Compact size (29x29x29mm)
- Compatible with x86 computers and embedded ARM V7 & ARM V8 platforms
- Supports hardware triggering (requires I/O cable)

MTBF, warranty & product life cycle

Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually, adhering to stringent quality standards. The mean time between failures (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours (approximately 45 years of continuous operation). These cameras hold TÜV Rheinland certification and come with a 3-year warranty. Each model remains available for a minimum of 7 years post-launch, with many models supported for significantly longer periods. Industrial Color Camera

A color camera employs a Bayer filter array to generate color images. The RGB values for each pixel are computed by combining the pixel s own value with those of adjacent pixels. This process results in images that are generally less sharp than those captured by monochrome cameras. Because of the RGB filter, each pixel receives up to 66% fewer photons under white light compared to a monochrome sensor, leading to lower light sensitivity. To address this, you can:
- Increase illumination
- Raise the gain
- Extend shutter speed or exposure time
- Choose a sensor with higher light sensitivity
- Opt for a lens with enhanced light-gathering capability
Unlike typical security cameras or webcams, industrial color cameras feature larger, more light-sensitive pixels, delivering superior image quality.

I/O port for hardwaretrigger, strobecontrol or PLC communication

The USB camera s I/O interface uses an 8-pin HR25 Hirose connector, a common standard in industrial machine vision. This camera includes an input for hardware triggering and an output to activate external devices such as industrial lighting. Additionally, it provides two GPIO (General Purpose Input/Output) pins programmable via our SDK. Electrical schematics for the I/O connector are available in the manual. You may also refer to our article: hardware triggering multiple industrial cameras.

If the I/O port is not required, the camera can be ordered without it. For bulk orders, this option reduces the camera cost by 10. The minimum order quantity for a USB3 industrial camera without I/O is 10 units. To place an order for a camera without I/O, please contact us.
