GigE Vision Camera e2v EV76C570
The Mercury 2 GigE camera lineup represents an industrial-grade vision camera featuring a GigE interface. GigE remains the predominant interface for cameras in conventional machine vision systems. The Mercury 2 series incorporates advanced capabilities such as decimation, binning, pixel skipping, reversal, and digital shifting. This particular model is suitable if your application meets these criteria:
- An industrial-grade camera
- Cable runs up to 100 meters
- Cost-effective and straightforward cable installation
- Physical dimensions of 29x29x40.3mm
- Optional support for hardware triggering
For further technical information, please refer to the GigE vision camera manual.
MTBF, warranty & product life cycle
Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually, adhering to rigorous quality standards. The mean time between failures (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours (approximately 45 years of continuous operation). These industrial cameras hold TUV Rheinland certification and come with a 3-year warranty. Each camera model remains available for a minimum of 7 years post-launch, with many models supported for significantly longer periods. Color industrial camera
Industrial color cameras utilize a Bayer filter array to generate color images. The RGB values for each pixel are derived by combining the pixel s own value with those of adjacent pixels. This process results in images that are generally less sharp compared to those from monochrome cameras.
Because of the RGB filter, each pixel captures roughly 66% fewer photons under white light conditions than a monochrome sensor, reducing light sensitivity. To address this, the following adjustments can be made: - Increase illumination
- Raise the gain setting
- Extend shutter speed or exposure duration
- Choose a sensor with higher light sensitivity
- Select a lens optimized for better light transmission
Color industrial cameras are preferred in scenarios where capturing color information is essential.
Industrial GigE camera with PoE
Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology for GigE cameras delivers both electrical power and data over a single Ethernet cable. This approach minimizes cable clutter and reduces installation time in setups that do not require hardware triggering or I/O connections. For applications needing I/O functionality, powering the camera via the I/O connector is recommended. PoE operation results in higher power consumption and increased heat generation compared to powering through the I/O connector. Cameras with PoE are physically larger due to an additional PCB that isolates Ethernet power from data signals and steps down voltage. This additional hardware increases cost relative to non-PoE models. The main benefit of PoE is simplified installation by reducing the number of cables needed.
