GigE Vision Camera IMX265

The Mercury 2 GigE series represents an industrial-grade vision camera equipped with a GigE connection. GigE remains the predominant interface in conventional machine vision setups. This camera is offered in variants both with and without Power over Ethernet (PoE). The Mercury 2 lineup incorporates advanced capabilities such as decimation, binning, pixel skipping, reverse imaging, and digital shifting. This particular model suits applications that meet the following criteria:
- An industrial-grade imaging device
- Cable length up to 100 meters maximum
- Cost-effective and straightforward cable installation
- Single cable connection when using PoE
- Physical dimensions: 29x29x29mm (without PoE), 29x29x38mm (with PoE)
- Optional support for hardware triggering

For further technical information, please refer to the GigE vision camera manual.

MTBF, warranty & product life cycle

Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually, adhering to stringent quality standards. The mean time between failure (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours, equating to roughly 45 years of continuous operation. These industrial cameras hold TÜV Rheinland certification and come with a three-year warranty. Post-launch, each camera model remains available for a minimum of seven years, with many models supported for significantly longer periods. Color industrial camera

A color industrial camera employs a Bayer filter array to generate color images. The RGB value for each pixel is computed by analyzing the pixel s data alongside neighboring pixels. This process generally produces images with less sharpness compared to monochrome cameras.
Because of the RGB filter on each pixel, under white light conditions, each pixel captures approximately 66% fewer photons than a monochrome sensor, resulting in reduced light sensitivity. To address this limitation, the following adjustments can be made: - Enhance illumination
- Increase camera gain
- Extend shutter speed or exposure time
- Choose a sensor with higher light sensitivity
- Use a lens optimized for better light transmission
Color industrial cameras are preferred in scenarios where capturing color information is essential.

Industrial GigE camera with PoE

Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology for GigE enables simultaneous delivery of power and data through a single Ethernet cable. This simplifies wiring and reduces installation time in setups that do not require hardware triggering or additional I/O connections. When I/O functionality is necessary, powering the camera via an I/O connector is recommended. Cameras powered by PoE typically consume more power and generate additional heat compared to those powered through an I/O connector. PoE-enabled GigE cameras are physically larger due to the inclusion of an extra PCB that isolates Ethernet power from data signals and steps down the voltage. This additional hardware increases the cost relative to non-PoE versions. The main benefit of PoE lies in easier installation, as fewer cables are needed.
