VA Imaging MER2-160-75GM-P-VA 1/2.9" Monochrome CMOS (Sony IMX273) Camera, 1.6 Megapixels, 1440 x 1080, 75 fps, Global Shutter, C-Mount, GigE Vision Output
GigE Vision Camera IMX273
The Mercury 2 GigE camera lineup represents a professional industrial vision solution featuring a GigE interface. GigE remains the predominant connection standard for cameras in conventional machine vision systems. The Mercury 2 series offers sophisticated capabilities including decimation, binning, pixel skipping, image reversal, and digital shifting. This particular model suits applications that meet the following criteria:
- Industrial-grade camera requirements
- Cable runs up to 100 meters maximum
- Cost-effective and straightforward cable installation
- Compact dimensions of 29x29x40.3mm
- Optional support for hardware triggering

MTBF, warranty & product life cycle
Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually, adhering to stringent quality protocols. The mean time between failures (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours, equating to approximately 45 years of continuous operation. These industrial cameras carry TÜV Rheinland certification and include a three-year warranty. Each model remains available for a minimum of seven years following its market release, with many products sustaining longer lifespans. Additional insights on our product life cycle management can be found in the linked article.
Monochrome industrial camera
A monochrome or black and white camera delivers distinct benefits across numerous use cases. Although color cameras dominate the security sector, industrial applications often rely on monochrome imaging for its superior sensitivity to light, enhanced image sharpness, and reduced data volume compared to color. These factors make monochrome cameras particularly well-suited for image processing tasks. By choosing appropriate lighting wavelengths and lens filters, specific product features can be accentuated, enabling the capture of high-resolution, high-contrast images using monochrome cameras.
Industrial camera with PoE
Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology for GigE cameras combines power delivery and data transmission through a single Ethernet cable. This integration minimizes cabling and simplifies installation in setups that do not require hardware triggering or additional I/O connections. For applications needing I/O functionality, powering the camera via an I/O connector is recommended. Cameras powered by PoE typically consume more energy and generate additional heat compared to those powered through I/O connectors. PoE-enabled GigE cameras are physically larger due to an extra PCB that isolates Ethernet power from the signal and steps down voltage. This additional hardware increases cost relative to non-PoE versions. However, the main advantage of PoE is the streamlined installation process, requiring fewer cables.
