VA Imaging MER2-160-75GC-P-VA 1/2.9" Color CMOS (Sony IMX273) Camera, 1.6 Megapixels, 1440 x 1080, 75 fps, Global Shutter, C-Mount, GigE Vision Output
GigE Vision Camera IMX273
The Mercury 2 GigE camera lineup represents an industrial-grade vision camera featuring a GigE interface. GigE remains the predominant interface for cameras in conventional machine vision environments. The Mercury 2 series offers enhanced functionalities such as decimation, binning, pixel skipping, image reversal, and digital shifting. This particular model is suitable if your application meets the following criteria:
- An industrial-grade camera
- Cable length up to 100 meters
- Cost-effective and simple cable installation
- Physical dimensions: 29x29x40.3mm
- Optional support for hardware triggering
For further technical details, please refer to the GigE vision camera manual.
MTBF, warranty & product life cycle
Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually, adhering to stringent quality standards. The mean time between failure (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours (approximately 45 years of continuous operation). These industrial cameras carry TÜV Rheinland certification and come with a 3-year warranty. Post-launch, each camera model is guaranteed to be available for a minimum of 7 years, with many models supported for significantly longer periods. Additional information about our product life cycle management can be found in this article.
Color industrial camera
An industrial color camera utilizes a Bayer filter array to generate color images. The RGB values for each pixel are computed by combining the pixel s value with those of adjacent pixels. This process results in images that are generally less sharp compared to monochrome cameras.
Because of the RGB filter overlay, each pixel captures roughly 66% fewer photons under white light conditions than a monochrome sensor. Consequently, color cameras exhibit lower light sensitivity than their monochrome counterparts. To address this, the following adjustments can be made: - Increase illumination
- Raise the gain setting
- Extend shutter speed or exposure time
- Choose a sensor with higher light sensitivity
- Use a lens optimized for greater light transmission
Color industrial cameras are preferred in scenarios where color data is essential.
Industrial GigE camera with PoE
Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology for GigE enables simultaneous power supply and data transfer via a single Ethernet cable. This minimizes cable requirements and simplifies installation in applications that do not need hardware triggering or I/O connections. For applications requiring I/O, powering the camera through an I/O connector is recommended. Cameras powered by PoE consume more energy and generate additional heat compared to those powered via I/O connectors. PoE-enabled GigE cameras are physically larger due to an added PCB that isolates power from the Ethernet data and steps down voltage. This additional hardware increases the cost relative to non-PoE versions. The primary benefit of PoE is the streamlined installation process resulting from fewer cables.
