GigE Vision Camera IMX287

The Mercury 2 GigE camera lineup consists of industrial-grade vision cameras equipped with a GigE interface. GigE is widely recognized as the standard interface for cameras in classic machine vision setups. The Mercury 2 series offers advanced capabilities such as decimation, binning, pixel skipping, image reversal, and digital shift. This particular model is suitable if your requirements include:
- An industrial-grade camera
- Cable lengths up to 100 meters
- Cost-effective and straightforward cable installation
- Compact dimensions of 29x29x40.3mm
- Optional support for hardware triggering

For further technical details, please refer to the GigE vision camera manual.

MTBF, warranty & product life cycle

Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually, adhering to stringent quality standards. The mean time between failures (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours (approximately 45 years of continuous operation). These industrial cameras hold TÜV Rheinland certification and include a 3-year warranty. Following release, each camera model remains available for a minimum of 7 years, with many models supported for significantly longer periods. Color industrial camera

A color industrial camera employs a Bayer filter pattern to generate color images. The RGB value for each pixel is computed by combining the pixel s own value with those of its neighbors. This process results in images that are generally less sharp compared to monochrome cameras.
Because of the RGB filter overlay, each pixel captures roughly 66% fewer photons under white light conditions than a monochrome sensor. Consequently, color cameras exhibit lower light sensitivity than their monochrome counterparts. To address this limitation, the following adjustments can be made: - Enhance illumination
- Increase sensor gain
- Extend shutter speed or exposure time
- Choose a sensor with higher light sensitivity
- Select a lens optimized for greater light transmission
Color industrial cameras are typically employed in applications where color information is essential.

industrial GigE camera with PoE

Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology for GigE cameras enables simultaneous power delivery and data transmission through a single Ethernet cable. This reduces cable complexity and installation time in scenarios where hardware triggering or I/O functionality is not required. For applications demanding I/O, powering the camera via an I/O connector is recommended. Cameras consume more power when operated via PoE compared to I/O power input, resulting in increased heat generation. Additionally, PoE-enabled GigE cameras are physically larger due to an extra PCB that isolates Ethernet power from data signals and converts voltage levels. This additional hardware increases the cost relative to non-PoE versions. The primary benefit of PoE is simplified installation owing to fewer cables needed.
