2.5GIGE VISION CAMERA IMX993

MER3-321-91G3M-P-SWIRbelongs to the MER3 2.5GigE lineup. This device is an industrial GigE camera featuring a 2.5GigE connection. GigE remains the predominant interface for cameras in conventional machine vision systems. The MER3 series offers high-resolution options equipped with global shutter sensors.
This particular model suits applications that meet the following criteria:
- An industrial-grade camera
- Cable length up to 100 meters
- Cost-effective and straightforward cable installation
- Single cable connection for both power and data
- Compact dimensions of 29x29x50.6mm
For additional specifications, the MER3 2.5GigE manual is available for reference.

Monochrome SWIR Industrial Camera

A monochrome SWIR camera, also known as a Visible-SWIR camera, offers benefits across multiple use cases. Visible light typically spans wavelengths from 400nm to 780nm, while infrared light covers wavelengths from 780nm up to 1000 m. Within the infrared range, the segment closest to visible light is termed Short-Wave Infrared (SWIR). The Sony IMX993 SWIR sensor is engineered to detect light spanning from visible to SWIR wavelengths. This camera captures detailed image data across a spectrum ranging from 400nm to 1700nm. The MER3-321-91G3M-P-SWIR model can effectively substitute the conventional dual-camera setup of "Visible light camera + SWIR camera." This integration lowers costs, accelerates processing times, and broadens detection capabilities.

Monochrome SWIR GigE cameras serve various applications:

  • Semiconductor inspection, where defects invisible under visible light can be detected.
  • Assessment of products in humid environments, as water absorbs light around the 1450nm wavelength, making it appear opaque.
  • Identification of specific materials among others; for instance, plastics and metals may appear similar under visible light, but their infrared reflectance and absorption characteristics differ, enabling material differentiation.

POE INDUSTRIAL CAMERA

Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology for GigE cameras delivers both electrical power and data transmission through a single Ethernet cable. This simplifies wiring and reduces installation time in scenarios where hardware triggers or I/O are not necessary. When I/O functionality is required, powering the camera via an I/O connector is recommended. Cameras powered by PoE consume more energy compared to those powered through the I/O connector, which results in increased heat generation. Additionally, PoE-enabled GigE cameras are physically larger due to an extra PCB that isolates power from the Ethernet signal and converts voltage levels. This additional hardware also increases the cost relative to non-PoE versions. The main advantage of PoE is streamlined installation, as fewer cables are needed.

MTBF, WARRANTY & PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE

Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually, adhering to rigorous quality standards. The mean time between failures (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours (equivalent to 45 years of continuous operation). These industrial cameras carry TÜV Rheinland certification and come with a 3-year warranty. Following product launch, each camera model remains available for a minimum of 7 years. Most models have an even longer lifecycle. For further information on our product life cycle management, please review this article.
