Monochrome SWIR Industrial Camera
A monochrome SWIR camera, also called a Visible-SWIR camera, provides benefits across multiple applications. Typically, visible light covers wavelengths from 400nm to 780nm, while infrared light spans from 780nm to 1000 m. Within the infrared range, the band closest to visible light is known as Short-Wave Infrared (SWIR). The Sony IMX992 SWIR sensor is engineered to detect light from the visible spectrum through to SWIR wavelengths. This camera captures detailed imagery across 400nm to 1700nm. The MER3-533-55G3M-P-SWIR model can substitute the conventional dual-camera setup combining visible and SWIR cameras, lowering costs, enhancing processing efficiency, and broadening detection capabilities.
Monochrome SWIR GigE cameras are applicable in various fields:
- Semiconductor inspection, enabling detection of defects invisible in visible light.
- Examination of products in humid environments, where water absorbs light at 1450nm wavelength, rendering it opaque.
- Identification of specific materials among others; for instance, plastics and metals may appear alike in visible light, but their infrared reflectance and absorption differ, allowing material discrimination.
POE INDUSTRIAL CAMERA
Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology for GigE cameras delivers both electrical power and data transmission via a single Ethernet cable. This simplifies cabling and reduces installation time in applications where hardware triggering or I/O is not necessary. When I/O functions are required, powering the camera through an I/O connector is recommended. PoE power consumption is higher compared to I/O connector supply, resulting in increased heat generation. Cameras equipped with PoE are physically larger due to an additional PCB that isolates power from the Ethernet signal and steps down voltage. This extra hardware also increases cost relative to non-PoE models. The primary benefit of PoE is simplified installation with fewer cables.
MTBF, WARRANTY & PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE
Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually, adhering to stringent quality standards. The mean time between failures (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours (approximately 45 years of continuous operation). These industrial cameras carry TÜV Rheinland certification and include a 3-year warranty. Each model remains available for at least 7 years after release. Many models have a significantly longer lifecycle. For further details on our product lifecycle management, see this article.
