Monochrome SWIR Industrial Camera
A monochrome SWIR camera, sometimes called a Visible-SWIR camera, provides benefits across various use cases. Light with wavelengths between 400nm and 780nm is categorized as visible light, while wavelengths from 780nm to 1000 m fall within the infrared range. Within the infrared spectrum, the region closest to visible light is known as Short-Wave Infrared (SWIR). The Sony IMX990 SWIR sensor is engineered to detect light spanning from visible wavelengths through the SWIR range. This camera captures detailed image data across wavelengths from 400nm up to 1700nm. The MER3-138-136G3M-P-SWIR can substitute the conventional setup of separate "Visible light camera + SWIR camera" systems, reducing costs, enhancing processing speed, and expanding detection capabilities.
Applications for monochrome SWIR GigE cameras include:
- Semiconductor inspection, enabling detection of defects not visible in the standard visible spectrum.
- Product inspection in humid environments, as water absorbs light at 1450nm, making it opaque at this wavelength.
- Identification of specific materials among others; for instance, plastics and metals may appear similar under visible light, but their reflectance and absorption differ in the infrared spectrum, allowing material differentiation.
POE INDUSTRIAL CAMERA
Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology for GigE cameras delivers both electrical power and data through a single Ethernet cable. This simplifies wiring and reduces installation time in scenarios where hardware triggering or I/O is unnecessary. For applications requiring I/O, powering the camera via an I/O connector is recommended. Cameras powered through PoE consume more energy and generate additional heat compared to those powered through I/O connectors. PoE-enabled GigE cameras are physically larger due to an extra PCB that isolates power from the Ethernet signal and steps down voltage. This additional hardware increases cost compared to non-PoE versions. The primary benefit of PoE is simplified installation with fewer cables.
MTBF, WARRANTY & PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE
Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually, adhering to stringent quality standards. The mean time between failures (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours (approximately 45 years of continuous operation). These cameras hold TÜV Rheinland certification and come with a 3-year warranty. Post-launch, each camera model remains available for a minimum of 7 years. Most models have an even longer lifecycle. For further details on our product lifecycle management, please see this article.
