VA Imaging MER3-1221-24G3C-P-VA 1/1.1" Color CMOS (Sony IMX545) Camera, 12 Megapixels, 4096 x 3000, 24 fps, Global Shutter, C-Mount, 2.5GigE Output
2.5GIGE VISION CAMERA IMX545
The MER3-1221-24G3C-P belongs to the MER3 2.5GigE lineup. It is an industrial-grade GigE vision camera featuring a 2.5GigE connection. GigE remains the predominant interface for cameras in conventional machine vision setups. The MER3 series offers high-resolution options equipped with global shutter sensors.
This particular model suits applications that meet the following criteria:
- An industrial-grade camera
- Cable length up to 100 meters maximum
- Cost-effective and straightforward cable installation
- Single cable connection for device operation
- Physical dimensions of 29x29x50.6mm

COLOR INDUSTRIAL CAMERA
An industrial color camera utilizes a Bayer filter array to generate color images. The RGB values for each pixel are computed by combining the pixel s own value with those of adjacent pixels. This process results in images that are generally less sharp compared to monochrome cameras.
Because of the RGB filter overlay, each pixel, when exposed to white light, captures roughly 66% fewer photons than a monochrome sensor. Consequently, color cameras exhibit lower sensitivity to light than their monochrome counterparts. To address this, the following adjustments can be made:
- Enhance illumination intensity
- Increase camera gain
- Extend shutter speed or exposure duration
- Choose a sensor with higher light sensitivity
- Opt for a lens with improved light-gathering capability
Color industrial cameras are preferred in scenarios where capturing color information is critical.
POE INDUSTRIAL CAMERA
Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology for GigE cameras enables simultaneous delivery of power and data through a single Ethernet cable. This setup minimizes cabling complexity and reduces installation time for applications that do not require hardware triggering or input/output signals. In cases where I/O functionality is necessary, powering the camera via an I/O connector is recommended. Using PoE generally results in higher power consumption and increased heat generation within the camera. PoE-enabled GigE cameras are physically larger than their non-PoE counterparts due to an additional PCB that separates power from Ethernet signals and steps down voltage. This extra hardware leads to higher costs compared to models without PoE. The main benefit of PoE is simplified installation by reducing the number of cables needed.
MTBF, WARRANTY & PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE
Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually, adhering to stringent quality standards. The mean time between failures (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours (equivalent to 45 years of continuous operation). These industrial cameras hold TÜV Rheinland certification and come with a three-year warranty. Each camera model remains available for a minimum of seven years following its market release, with many models supported for significantly longer periods.
