VA Imaging MER2-630-18GC-VA 1/1.8" Color CMOS (Sony IMX178) Camera, 6.3 Megapixels, 3088 x 2064, 18 fps, Rolling Shutter, C-Mount, GigE Vision Output
GigE Vision Camera IMX178
The Mercury 2 GigE camera lineup features an industrial-grade vision camera equipped with a GigE connection. GigE remains the preferred interface for cameras in conventional machine vision settings. Currently, this camera model is offered exclusively without Power over Ethernet (PoE). The Mercury 2 series incorporates sophisticated capabilities such as decimation, binning, pixel skipping, image reversal, and digital shifting. This particular model is suitable if your application meets these criteria:
- Designed for industrial use
- Supports cable lengths up to 100 meters
- Cost-effective and straightforward cable installation
- Compact dimensions of 29x29x29mm
- Optional hardware triggering available
For additional technical information, please refer to the GigE vision camera manual.
MTBF, warranty & product life cycle
Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually, adhering to stringent quality standards. The mean time between failure (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours (approximately 45 years of continuous operation). These industrial cameras carry TÜV Rheinland certification and come with a three-year warranty. Post-launch, each camera model remains available for a minimum of seven years, with many models supported for longer periods. Color industrial camera
A color industrial camera utilizes a Bayer filter array to generate color images. The RGB value for each pixel is computed by combining the pixel s own intensity with those of its adjacent pixels. This process results in images that are generally less sharp compared to monochrome cameras.
Because of the RGB filter, each pixel captures roughly 66% fewer photons under white light conditions than a monochrome sensor, making color cameras inherently less sensitive to light. To address this limitation, the following adjustments can be applied: - Enhance lighting levels
- Increase camera gain
- Extend shutter speed or exposure time
- Choose a sensor with higher light sensitivity
- Use a lens designed for improved light sensitivity
Color industrial cameras are typically employed in scenarios where capturing color information is essential.
Industrial GigE camera without PoE
Power for an industrial GigE camera lacking PoE is delivered through the I/O connector. This standard GigE camera variant is more cost-effective and produces less heat during operation. It is also more compact than the PoE-enabled version due to fewer hardware components. Using an industrial GigE camera without PoE necessitates an I/O cable connection at all times.
