GigE Vision Camera IMX264

The Mercury 2 GigE camera lineup represents an industrial-grade vision camera featuring a GigE connection. GigE remains the predominant interface for cameras in conventional machine vision environments. The Mercury 2 series incorporates sophisticated functions such as decimation, binning, pixel skipping, image reversal, and digital shifting. This specific model is suitable if your application meets the following criteria:
- An industrial-grade camera
- Cable length up to 100 meters
- Cost-effective and straightforward cable setup
- Physical dimensions: 29x29x40.3mm
- Optional support for hardware triggering

MTBF, warranty & product life cycle

Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually under stringent quality controls. The mean time between failure (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours (equivalent to 45 years of continuous operation). These industrial cameras hold TÜV Rheinland certification and come with a three-year warranty. Each camera model remains available for a minimum of seven years following its market release, with many models supported for significantly longer periods. Monochrome industrial camera

A monochrome camera, also referred to as a black and white camera, provides benefits across numerous applications. While color cameras dominate the security sector, black and white cameras are preferred in industrial settings due to their enhanced light sensitivity, sharper image output, and reduced data volume compared to color cameras. These attributes make them particularly suitable for image processing tasks. By choosing the appropriate lighting wavelength and lens filters, specific product features can be accentuated, enabling the capture of high-resolution, high-contrast images using monochrome cameras.

Industrial camera with PoE

Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology for GigE cameras delivers both electrical power and data transmission through a single Ethernet cable. This approach minimizes cable requirements and installation effort in scenarios where hardware triggering or I/O connections are unnecessary. For applications demanding I/O functionality, powering the camera via an I/O connector is recommended. Using PoE results in higher power consumption and additional heat generation within the camera. PoE-enabled GigE cameras are physically larger than their non-PoE counterparts due to the inclusion of an extra PCB that isolates power from the Ethernet signal and steps down voltage. This additional hardware increases cost relative to non-PoE versions. The main advantage of PoE is simplified installation through reduced cabling needs.
