VA Imaging MER2-160-249U3M-HS-VA 1/2.9" Monochrome CMOS (Sony IMX273) Camera, 1.6 Megapixels, 1440 x 1080, 249 fps, Global Shutter, C-Mount, USB 3.0 Output
Industrial USB 3.0 Vision camera IMX273
The Mercury2 USB 3.0 camera is designed as an industrial vision device featuring a USB 3.0 connection. This interface is well-suited for cameras demanding high resolution and rapid frame rates. It integrates seamlessly with embedded systems like Raspberry Pi (version 4 or newer), NVIDIA platforms, and standard PC environments.
This camera model fits applications that require:
-Â Â Â An industrial-grade camera
-Â Â Â Cable lengths up to 4.5 meters (extendable to 10 meters with optical USB3 cables)
-Â Â Â Single-cable connectivity
-Â Â Â Compact size (29x29x29mm)
-Â Â Â Compatibility with x86 computers and embedded ARM V7 & ARM V8 platforms
-Â Â Â Hardware trigger support (requires I/O cable)
We suggest the standard model MER2-160-227U3M for enhanced image quality. Nonetheless, this variant delivers increased frame rates and is recommended solely when the default camera’s FPS is insufficient for your needs.

MTBF, warranty & product life cycle
Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually, adhering to stringent quality standards. The Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours (equivalent to 45 years of continuous operation). These industrial cameras carry TÜV Rheinland certification and include a 3-year warranty. Each model remains available for a minimum of 7 years following its market release, with many models supported for significantly longer periods. For further details on our product life cycle management, please refer to this article.
Industrial monochrome / black&white camera
Monochrome cameras, also referred to as black and white cameras, provide benefits across numerous industrial applications. Whereas consumer markets like security and mobile devices emphasize color imaging, industrial sectors leverage the advantages of monochrome sensors. These cameras offer up to three times greater light sensitivity, deliver sharper images, and generate less data compared to color cameras, facilitating more efficient image processing. By selecting appropriate lighting and lens filters, enhanced image contrast can be achieved. The industrial monochrome camera captures images with excellent contrast and resolution.
I/O port for hardwaretrigger, strobecontrol or PLC communication
The USB camera’s I/O interface utilizes an 8-pin HR25 Hirose connector, a common standard in industrial machine vision. This camera features an input port for hardware triggering. Its output can activate external devices such as industrial machine vision lighting. Additionally, it includes two programmable GPIO pins accessible via our SDK. Electrical wiring diagrams for the I/O connector are available in the manual. You may also consult our article on hardware triggering multiple industrial cameras.
If the I/O port is not needed, the camera can be ordered without it. For large orders, this option reduces the camera’s cost by €10. The minimum order quantity for USB3 cameras without I/O is 10 units. Please contact us if you wish to purchase the industrial USB3 camera without the I/O port.
