VA Imaging MER2-1220-9GC-P-VA 1/1.7" Color CMOS (Sony IMX226) Camera, 12.2 Megapixels, 4024 x 3036, 9 fps, Rolling Shutter, C-Mount, GigE Vision Output
GigE Vision Camera IMX226
The Mercury 2 GigE camera lineup is designed for industrial vision applications, utilizing a GigE interface. GigE remains the most widely adopted interface for cameras in standard machine vision setups. The Mercury 2 series offers advanced capabilities such as decimation, binning, pixel skipping, reverse, and digital shift. This particular model suits your needs if your application meets the following criteria:
- Industrial-grade camera
- Cable length up to 100 meters
- Cost-effective and straightforward cable installation
- Physical dimensions: 29x29x40.3mm
- Optional hardware trigger support

MTBF, Warranty & Product Life Cycle
Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually, adhering to rigorous quality standards. The mean time between failures (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours (approximately 45 years of continuous operation). These industrial cameras hold TÜV Rheinland certification and come with a 3-year warranty. Each model remains available for a minimum of 7 years following its market release, with many models supported for significantly longer periods. Color Industrial Camera
Color industrial cameras employ a Bayer filter array to generate color images. The RGB value for each pixel is computed by combining the pixel s value with those of adjacent pixels. This process results in images that are generally less sharp compared to monochrome cameras.
Because of the RGB filter overlay, each pixel captures roughly 66% fewer photons under white light conditions than a monochrome sensor, leading to lower light sensitivity. To address this, the following approaches can be used: - Increase illumination
- Raise the gain setting
- Extend shutter speed or exposure time
- Choose a sensor with higher light sensitivity
- Select a lens optimized for light sensitivity
Color industrial cameras are typically employed in scenarios where capturing color information is essential.
Industrial GigE Camera with PoE
Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology for GigE cameras enables both power delivery and data transmission through a single standard Ethernet cable. This simplifies installation and reduces cabling requirements in applications that do not demand hardware triggering or I/O connections. For applications requiring I/O, powering the camera via an I/O connector is recommended. Using PoE results in higher power consumption and additional heat generation compared to powering through the I/O connector. Cameras equipped with PoE are physically larger due to an extra PCB that separates the power from the Ethernet signal and steps down the voltage. The inclusion of this additional hardware increases cost relative to non-PoE versions. The main benefit of PoE is a streamlined installation process requiring fewer cables.
