Industrial USB 3.0 Vision Camera Featuring IMX287

The Mercury2 USB 3.0 camera is designed for industrial vision applications and utilizes a USB 3.0 interface. This interface is ideal for cameras requiring high resolution and rapid data transfer rates. It is well-suited for embedded systems like Raspberry Pi (version 4 or newer), NVIDIA platforms, as well as standard PC environments.
This model is particularly relevant if your project meets the following criteria:
-    An industrial-grade imaging device
-    Cable length up to 4.5 meters (extendable to 10 meters with an optical USB3 cable)
-    Single-cable connectivity
-    Compact form factor (29x29x29mm)
-    Compatibility with x86 computers and ARM-based embedded platforms (ARM V7 & ARM V8)
-    Supports hardware triggering (requires I/O cable)

We suggest the standard variant MER2-041-528U3M for enhanced image quality. However, this model delivers higher frame rates and is recommended only when the standard camera’s FPS is insufficient for your application.

MTBF, Warranty, and Product Longevity

Daheng Imaging manufactures over 100,000 industrial cameras annually, adhering to stringent quality standards. The mean time between failures (MTBF) exceeds 400,000 hours (equivalent to 45 years of continuous operation). These industrial cameras are TÜV Rheinland certified and come with a 3-year warranty. Each model remains available for at least 7 years following its market release, with many models supported for significantly longer periods. For additional details on our product life cycle management, please refer to the linked article.

Monochrome / Black & White Industrial Camera

Monochrome cameras, also called black and white cameras, provide benefits across numerous industrial applications. While consumer markets like security and mobile devices prioritize color imaging, industrial sectors leverage the advantages of monochrome sensors. These cameras offer up to three times greater light sensitivity, deliver sharper images, and reduce data volume compared to color cameras. This makes them highly effective for image processing tasks. By choosing appropriate lighting wavelengths and lens filters, specific product features can be emphasized, enabling the capture of high-contrast, high-resolution images using monochrome cameras.

I/O Interface for Hardware Triggering, Strobe Control, and PLC Communication

The USB camera’s I/O port utilizes an 8-pin HR25 Hirose connector, a standard in industrial machine vision. This camera includes an input port that functions as a hardware trigger. It also provides an output port capable of activating external devices such as industrial lighting systems. Additionally, there are two GPIO pins (General Purpose Input/Output) programmable via our SDK. Electrical wiring diagrams for the I/O connector are available in the manual. You may also review our article on hardware triggering for multiple industrial cameras.

If the I/O port is not required, it is possible to order the camera without it, which reduces the unit cost by €10. The minimum order quantity for cameras without I/O is 10 units. To place an order for the industrial USB3 camera without I/O, please contact us directly.
