Company Announcement - Ronald Massa Sr. Retirement Statement

RMA Electronics, Inc. announces the retirement of Ronald A. Massa Sr., company founder and former CEO.  Ron Sr. originally founded the company as Ronald A. Massa Associates in 1986 as a manufacturer’s representative organization.

At that time, the company represented primarily the five New England states as a sales territory and initially sold industrial cameras from early companies in the industry such as Pulnix America, Inc. (later JAI, Inc.) and Eastman Kodak Company, who is known for developing the industry’s first “megapixel” camera called Megaplus.  Additionally, in the late 1980’s the company represented one of the industry’s first PC-based frame grabber manufacturers, Univision Technologies, Inc., which after several later acquisitions and restructuring eventually became part of L-3 Communications.

During the late 1990’s, Ronald A. Massa Associates began transitioning from being a rep company to becoming a distribution company, and changed its name to RMA Electronics, Inc.  As the early 2000’s brought the formation of many new internet start-ups, RMA Electronics, Inc. made the decision to pursue a web-based business model driven by eCommerce, which was still in its infancy at the time.  This strategy enabled the company to grow its customer base not only throughout the U.S., but also in countries throughout Europe and Asia, as well as most other parts of the world.

With 2026, this marks the 40th anniversary for the company being in business and we celebrate this accomplishment.  We would like to thank Ron Sr. for all of his contributions over the past 39 years, not only to the company but also to the machine vision industry, while wishing him a happy retirement.

Ron Massa Jr., who has served as the company’s president for the past 15 years, will now also assume the new title of CEO.
