HD-SDI Output Camera Available For Under $250 USD From Blue Mango Technology

Upgrading your cameras from standard definition to high definition does not need to be expensive.  From Blue Mango Technology, RMA Electronics offers the BMH7010 (current sell price: $246.00 USD), which is a 2.2 megapixel resolution box camera with HD-SDI output (as well as having a Composite Analog NTSC/PAL selectable output).

What is HD-SDI?
HD-SDI is a standard from the broadcast industry based on SMPTE-292M. It means high-definition serial digital interface (HD-SDI) and supports up to 1080p30 (1920 x 1080 progressive scan 30FPS). HD-SDI delivers high quality HD digital video over standard RG59 coaxial cables at a length of 100 meters or more.

It preserves existing coaxial cable infrastructure commonly used in analog CCTV installations. As a result, HD-SDI is a cost effective solution for unlocking HD for CCTV customers, and it quite possibly is a true replacement for analog cameras.

HD-SDI Benefits:

  • Better quality images and a wider coverage area
  • As easy to install and maintain as analog thereby considerably reducing costs
  • Proven technology from the broadcast industry
  • No need for backup storage on the edge as there is no network to go down like with IP cameras
  • Existing infrastructure can be reused (coaxial cables)
  • Simplified network, fewer IP addresses and equipment required - potentially lowering overall system costs
  • HD-SDI streams live uncompressed video to other devices, such as DVRs and Monitors, with no latency!
  • HD-SDI cameras are close to analog prices
